In December of 2018, the United Nation’s General Assembly formally adopted a resolution that declared that 2020 would be the International Year of Plant Health. According to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), as of 2013, the average human being consumed about 1,200 calories per day directly from plants, primarily from common food grains such as wheat, rice, and maize (corn).
