This week a 1-year-old goat was found wandering loose near a construction site in the Bronx. She didn’t have a name, just a patch of paint on her back to signal that she was destined for slaughter. Instead of returning her to the nearby slaughterhouse, construction workers kindly took her into their office and called the police.
