According to a USDA report, after peaking at 6.8 million in 1945, U.S. farms fell sharply until the early 1970s; by 2002, only 2.1 million farms remained. If you’ve lived long enough…THIS STORY IS NOT DONE YET…TRUELY A NATIONAL DISASTER IF EVER THERE WAS ONE…!!!!

This week a 1-year-old goat was found wandering loose near a construction site in the Bronx. She didn’t have a name, just a patch of paint on her back to signal that she was destined for slaughter. Instead of returning her to the nearby slaughterhouse, construction workers kindly took her into their office and called the police. She was later picked up by Farm Sanctuary, a nonprofit in upstate New York that cares for neglected and abused farmed animals.
